Global Health
Dr. Thomas studies the social forces that establish patterns of disease in communities. He was director of several large projects to strengthen the collection and use of data in low- and middle-income countries to guide public health programs. He continues to teach courses on global health and is writing a book on colonialism in the global health industry.
Ethics
Jim led the creation of the first code of ethics for public health, and was an ethics advisor to the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He is currently advising a team of European public health leaders on the development of codes of ethics for public health in Europe.
Teaching & Speaking
Jim’s passion for his work and his love of interacting with groups is evident in his teaching and speaking. He easily engages his audiences and students on topics such as global health and pandemic ethics.
